Green wall first: Federal Street sprouts 3,500 plants
26 May 2014
Last week marked our installation of what we think is the largest green wall yet in New Zealand – and the Southern Hemisphere’s first ever circular green walls. The 130 square metre green wall is a key part of the transformation of Federal Street, Auckland into an attractive shared space. It took 18 month’s work and 3,500 plants.
GreenAir was commissioned to undertake the design, build, installation and maintenance of the green wall by Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and Sky City. We are proud to have worked in collaboration with our Australian partner Fytogreen, in and with project landscape architects Boffa Miskell.

The Federal Street green walls by Green Air incorporate ecological and biodiversity principles and enhance the city’s environmental sustainability. They also give city workers and visitors something unique – the experience of our native forests where you’d least expect them – right in the heart of the city centre.

Greenair brings Fytowall to New Zealand
Greenair has been busy with our new Fytowall Green wall system from Fytogreen in Australia. We feel extremely lucky to have this partnership, as this technology is cutting edge in the green wall sector.
The Fytowall system is leading the green wall space, with over a thousand meters installed throughout Australia to date. The Fytowall has been created by Fytogreen in Melbourne and comes with 10 years of knowledge and experience.
Greenair has just been contracted to design, install and maintain a Fytowall Green Wall in the new Telstra building in Wellington.
GreenAir Launches a new recirculating Green wall systems for the market in March 2013
1.Portable recirculating Florafelt living wall
The Greenair portable living wallcomes complete with a watering system and timer for the corporate, event and residential market. This system is designed and delivered fully planted and ready to make for high impact in any space. It is an ideal solution for a reception area, office screening or even an apartment courtyard where space is an issue.
These are modular units and can be made to size if required.
2.Greenair Vertical Gardens
The Greenair Vertical garden system is a lightweight steel frame that contains lightweight pots stacked above each other. These can be used for indoor or outdoor environments. These are custom made and colour coded to your requirements. The pots and plants are chosen on the light and weather conditions of your environment. These can be used to cover corporate buildings, or as office screening dividers.
We are building and designing these in Auckland, with the turn around time of approximately 1 week.
